Kimberley - A man was arrested in Kimberley for possession of dagga, Northern Cape police said on Wednesday.
Lieutenant Sergio Kock said the 35-year-old man was arrested near the Indian Centre taxi rank on Tuesday.
“Police officers spotted the suspicious looking man carrying a black gym bag. (They) stopped and searched the suspect and found six bags of compressed dagga inside the bag,” said Kock.
The dagga, which weighed 8.65kg, had a street value of approximately R50 000.
The man was expected to be appear in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court soon where he would face a charge of possession of dagga.
