Johannesburg - Kirsty Theologo's teenage friend waited for the final chapter of her killers' trial in the High Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
She was 14 when she and Theologo were assaulted, doused with petrol and set alight in a Satanic “soul-selling” ritual on a hill in Linmeyer, Johannesburg, in October 2011.
“I was really leaving all these [memories] behind,” the Grade 11 pupil said.
She said she could not wait for the case to be closed.
Theologo died of her injuries in hospital a week after the ritual. Her friend, now 16, and who cannot be named, survived the attack.
Argument in mitigation of sentencing for cousins Lindon Wagner and Robin Harwood, who were found guilty of Theologo's murder, was underway in the court on Tuesday. They were also found guilty of attempted murder and assault.
The teenager's relatives and those of the accused sat quietly in the court's public gallery. - Sapa
