KZN hijack victim fighting for his life

Durban - A man was left fighting for his life after he was shot during an apparent hijacking in Clermont, near Pinetown, on Wednesday afternoon.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the man, believed to be in his 20s, was shot in the abdomen and was in a serious condition.

The incident took place on 38th Avenue.

“ER24 paramedics, along with SAPS, arrived on the scene and found the man lying in the middle of the road,” Meiring said.

He was treated on scene before being transported to a private hospital.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said a case of hijacking was being investigated by KwaDabeka police.

He said the incident took place at around 1.30pm and that that the victim was allegedly robbed of his Ford Bantam.

“Circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” Zwane said.
