Johannesburg - An elderly man was murdered at his Joburg home on Tuesday during a house robbery.

Police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said that the 71-year-old’s wife found his body in a pool of blood in their Randburg home.

Muthan said that the man was stabbed three times in the abdomen at his Blairgowrie house.

“He was confirmed dead at the scene,” he said.

Although police believe that the motive of the attack was a house robbery, Muthan was unable to indicate if any items were taken from the house.

However, he said cases of murder and house robbery were opened and that the matter was under investigation.

No arrests have been made yet but a search is under way for the suspects responsible for the fatal stabbing and robbery.
