Parkview police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 52-year-old man who was stabbed with a sword in his Craighall Park home after an alleged domestic dispute.

The body of the man, whose name is yet to be released by the police, was found on Friday around 7am with a sword protruding from his chest.

SAPS spokeswoman Sergeant Jenny Pillay said the police had received a call from a security company about a noise at the residence.

But it is understood that around 6am on Friday, the couple’s security company, ADT, received an alarm activation.

“A reaction officer was dispatched to the scene. On arrival, the officer was met by a neighbour who informed him that there was apparently a domestic dispute at the house,” said Roy Rawlins, ADT’s central regions managing director.

“The officer entered the premises and saw one of the residents dead inside the house,” said Rawlins, adding that the police were notified.

On Monday,

a neighbour said the woman had come over on Friday, asking her to activate the panic signal of her security company. “She said she was fearing for her life. She was shaken.”

The woman had asked her to contact the security company as she had allegedly done so earlier, but thought her husband had told the company not to come.

The neighbour described the couple as quiet and said they lived alone.

Pillay said the “traumatised” woman was taken to hospital after the incident. - The Star
