A 41-year-old man allegedly caught trying to sell a rhino horn in the Free State appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Dennis Struis was released on bail of R5000 and the case was postponed until July 24.

Members of the Hawks unit caught Struis in a police trap on Thursday, after they received information that a Bloemfontein man wanted to sell a rhino horn.

The “transaction” with an undercover policeman took place near the Bloemfontein High Court buildings, in the central business district.

The horn, estimated to be worth R300 000, was confiscated. - Sapa
