Pretoria - Police have launched a manhunt for two men who robbed the Panarottis pizza outlet at the Kolonnade Mall.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk told the Pretoria News that the suspects entered the mall around the time the store was about to close for the day on Sunday night.

“Two males ran into Pannarottis at around 10pm on Sunday evening and demanded cash,” said Van Dyk. “They got the cash and ran out into the parking lot where they came across a single-cab bakkie which was parked outside. They pulled the occupants out of the vehicle and and hijacked the bakkie and sped off.”

He said police were able to catch up with the robbers who abandoned the vehicle but not before a shoot-out ensued.

“Shots were fired between the robbers police who responded to the call. The robbers stopped and jumped out of the vehicle and ran away,” said Van Dyk.

He said some of the loot amounting to around R2 000 was recovered from the vehicle.

“At this moment police are still investigating and no arrests have been made,” he said.
