Cape Town - A man wearing a scary skeleton mask is apparently terrorising commuters waiting at Mitchells Plain bus stops.

This week a 39-year-old man survived an attack after he was shot in the wrist by a gunman wearing a death mask.

The attacker was with three other men and a woman wearing bandannas and hoodies, along Eisleben Road, Rocklands, on Wednesday morning.

The Rocklands man said that he and a neighbour were waiting for the 5.10am bus to Town Centre.

They became suspicious when they noticed the gang, one of them wearing a skeleton mask.

The man, who works in the film production industry and asked not to be identified, said: “We saw three men and a woman walking on the opposite side of the street and suddenly the men crossed without the woman.

“We thought this is strange and we left the bus stop, retreating backwards.”

They ran back when they heard a bus approaching, not realising the suspects were waiting for them.

“They had been standing behind a wall and they started shooting.

“We ran into a neighbour’s house and they saw blood dripping and that was when I saw I was shot.”

The terrified man said he didn’t open a case with police because he couldn’t identify the suspects.

“But I want to warn the public to be alert and look out for them. I don’t know them, I don’t know why they shot at me.”

Mitchells Plain Cluster Commander, Major General Greg Goss, said no similar incidents have been reported.
