Johannesburg - An inquest into the death of the husband of Crime Intelligence boss Richard Mdluli's former lover was expected to continue in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.

The inquest was postponed in April after the court was told that the State had declined Mdluli's request for financial assistance.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers postponed the matter, saying the rights of all parties to the inquest should be taken into consideration.

Criminal charges against Mdluli and his alleged accomplices - Samuel Dlomo, Colonel Nkosana Sebastian Ximba, and Lieutenant Colonel Mtunzi-Omhle Mthembeni Mtunzi - were provisionally withdrawn in February, pending the outcome of the inquest.

The initial charges against them were intimidation, kidnapping, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.

The charges related to the killing of Oupa Ramogibe - the husband of Mdluli's former lover - in 1999.

At the time of the crime, Mdluli was branch commander of the Vosloorus police station. - Sapa
