Johannesburg – Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) on Tuesday pleaded with the public to come forward if they had information regarding the murder of one of their officers.

TMPD spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, said Constable Eddy Solly Bokaba, 27, was shot outside the home of a friend after knocking off work Monday evening.

"The officer knocked off duty last night 02 January 2017 around 23h00. He picked up a friend and was travelling to the friend's place. When he arrived there, he noticed a VW Polo vehicle approaching them. He went disembarked from his vehicle to ask what they wanted. One person from the Polo got out and without a word pulled out a firearm and shot at the officer. It is not known how many people were in the VW vehicle."

Constable Bokaba died on the scene and the motive for the murder was not yet known and police were still investigating Mahamba added. Mahamba said that the department was in shock at the murder of Bokaba, whom he described as hard working and dedicated.
