Cape Town - A Delft woman has been arrested on a charge of child trafficking.

It’s believed the 32-year-old mother of four allegedly uses her 12-year-old daughter to lure young girls to be sexually abused by a man known to the community.

The suspect was arrested at her Blikkiesdorp home on Thursday morning while her shocked neighbours looked on.

The man, who police are yet to arrest, is known for distributing food parcels to struggling families in the impoverished township.

The arrest comes after a 10-year-old girl revealed she had allegedly been violated by the man.

The victim’s mother says doctors confirmed her child had been sexually assaulted.

“The tests showed that there was penetration,” the horrified mother said.

“Her vagina was red and swollen and she was in pain.”

The mother says she questioned her child after a neighbour warned her against the suspect, her daughter and the man.

She says: “At first she denied it but then my granddaughter told me she was with them one day when she saw the man put his hands inside my daughter’s pants.

“I told my daughter I was going to take her to the police station so she could get a hiding there if she doesn’t tell me now.

“She then came out and told me the man applied something on his hands then he put his finger inside her vagina.

“When she told the man to stop because she was getting hurt, [the suspect’s] daughter hit her.”

The Daily Voice tracked down the suspect’s husband moments after he heard about his wife’s arrest.

“This can’t be, I don’t believe she would do something like this,” the shocked man said.

Another 13-year-old girl says she allegedly saw the man kissing her friend.

“We went to the shop with him and he gave each of us R25,” she says.

“We went into the shop and when I came out he was kissing my friend in his bakkie.”

By late on Thursday night, police did not respond to requests for comment.
