A report by an accident reconstruction expert in the murder trial of soccer player Bryce Moon was unreliable and biased, the Randburg Magistrate's Court heard on Wednesday.
Moon is being tried on charges of murder and drunken driving after allegedly hitting Mavis Ncube with his Mercedes-Benz in Sandhurst, Johannesburg, on June 30, 2009.
Naren Sangham, for Moon, put it to Hugo Theunissen that the people's accounts he relied on in his report differed from their statements made under oath to the court.
“The reports you heavily relied upon to compile your report were unreliable and the court cannot depend on your report,” Sangham told Theunissen.
“The statements and information I am referring to were given under oath to the court, however the information given to you by the same persons differ and take note they did not give their information to you under oath.”
Sangham was cross-examining Theunissen on the second day of the trial on Wednesday.
He detailed a number of the contradictions.
He said Theunissen's report was not based on logic and scientific data but on unreliable statements made by unreliable witnesses.
