Tzaneen - A senior Limpopo municipal official accused of fraud was granted R50 000 bail by the Tzaneen Magistrate's Court on Thursday, police said.

She would be back in court on February 22, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

Itumeleng Charmaine Letwaba, 30, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly using fraudulent qualifications to get her job. She was a senior manager in the water affairs section of the Mopani district municipality, earning an annual salary of R2.5 million.

Mulaudzi said she had been working there since November 2009. She applied for another post in the Waterberg municipality last year. She was caught when the municipality tried to verify her qualification in engineering from the Tshwane University of Technology. - Sapa
