Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman in Bethanie, North West police said on Monday.

The man was arrested on Sunday in Tshwaraganag section, Captain Pelonomi Makau said.

“It is alleged that the victim was walking home on Saturday night from a tavern when she was confronted by the suspect who threatened her with a knife before raping her,” Makau said.

The man fled the scene but was later arrested.

He was expected to appear in the Garankuwa Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
