Oscar has a history with guns
Johannesburg - Oscar Pistorius appears to have an affinity for guns.
According to The New York Times in January last year, Pistorius mentioned in an interview with reporter Michael Sokolove that a security alarm in the house had gone off the previous night, and he had grabbed his gun and went downstairs.
“I asked what kind of gun he owned,” Sokolove wrote.
Sokolove described how the Blade Runner fetched his 9mm handgun and two boxes of ammunition and drove them to a nearby shooting range, “where he instructed me on proper technique. Pistorius was a good coach”.
Sokolove said Pistorius encouraged him: “If you practised, I think you could be pretty deadly.”
Pistorius told the reporter that he often went to the shooting range when he could not sleep.
A reporter for the Daily Mail said that when he visited Pistorius at his home last year, a pistol was by his bed and a machine gun was propped up by a window.
His clean-cut image was tainted in 2008 when he crashed his boat into a submerged pier on the Vaal River, south of Joburg. He needed 172 stitches to his face.
The Star reported in November last year that charges of defamation were laid against Pistorius after he allegedly had a fight with a man his girlfriend began dating.
The incident allegedly happened after Pistorius returned from the London Olympic Games.
Enraged by jealousy, he allegedly threatened to break the legs of the other man involved. A charge of defamation was laid against him.
