Kimberley - Northern Cape police have appealed for information on the whereabouts of a rape suspect who attacked a woman in February.

In a statement, police spokesperson Major Dimakatso Mooi said the Galeshewe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) was requesting the community to come forward with information that may help in the investigation.

“It is alleged that on 03 February 2016 at about 20:40, a 29-year-old woman was walking from No5 in Galeshewe to her home in Phutanang when a man grabbed her from behind and requested money. The man allegedly raped that woman and afterwards called another man who was allegedly standing not far from where the woman was raped. This other man allegedly ran away when he was told it was his turn to rape the woman,” Mooi said.

The victim was robbed of her cellphone and handbag.

Police described the suspect as male, aged about 30 years old, 1,6 meters tall and of medium build.

He was wearing a red cap, blue shirt, black jeans and All Star takkies at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information can contact Sergeant Peterson of Galeshewe FCS on 083 510 1302 or 053 807 5500.
