Durban - A KwaZulu-Natal prosecutor accused of raping a woman appeared in the Dundee Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
The case was postponed until Friday, when he was expected to make a formal application for bail, said Captain Thulani Zwane.
A 23-year-old woman was at court with her boyfriend when the prosecutor, who may not be named until he has pleaded, called her into his office and allegedly raped her on Thursday.
She told her boyfriend what had happened and the matter was reported to the police.
When the prosecutor found out he was under investigation, he allegedly offered the woman R3000 to withdraw the case, Zwane said.
He said the man faced charges of rape, corruption and defeating the ends of justice. - Sapa
