Durban - A fender bender turned violent on Monday when one of the men involved shot another in the leg in Durban North.

According to Marshall Security officers at the scene, they had received reports that suggested two vehicles were travelling on the M4 highway when one crashed into the other.

Marshall said the driver of one of the vehicles then followed the other off the highway and on to Fairway Road where an altercation ensued.

Police spokesman, Captain Nqobile Gwala, said one driver allegedly chased the other one and shot the 35-year-old victim in the leg.

Netcare 911 spokeswoman, Athlenda Mathe, said: “Netcare 911 paramedics stabilised the wounded driver before transporting him to a nearby hospital.”

Gwala said the suspect, believed to be in his sixties, was arrested and would be charged with attempted murder.

He is expected to appear in court soon.
