Bangkok - A South African woman was arrested at Bangkok's international airport after police said they found 1.5kg of cocaine hidden in her dreadlocks, a news report said on Tuesday.
Nobanda Nolubabalo, 23, was searched on Monday when police said they noticed a white substance in her hair shortly after she stepped off a Qatar Airways flight that originated in San Paulo and flew through Qatar to Suvarnabhumi Airport, the Bangkok Post said.
The search uncovered 1.5kg of cocaine with a street value of 4.5 million baht (about R1.2 million) hidden in her dreadlocks, authorities said.
Police said the suspect admitted smuggling the drug and said she had been hired for 60 000 baht to deliver it to a customer at a hotel in Bangkok. - Sapa-dpa

My heart goes out to the family of these victims. The South African lady that has been put to death my sympathy goes out to her parents and family members. It could have been my child. yes she committed a crime and reasons we can only speculate. This was a season to enjoy with your family. Lets have a heart South Africans and show the world that we love and care . I just hope that others will not follow the same path but look for other ways and through prayer it can be achieved A blessed and merry christmas to everyone. God loves you

What a disgrace!!! Another woman just died because of her stupidity and now this woman does the same thing. I hope she is ready to face the music. I do not feel sorry for the woman, we want to protect our kids from drugs and they still smuggle them. She can rot in jail for all i care, the worst part is that she's still young beautiful and can make something of herself instead she chose to be a mule.

She protested her innocence. I travelled to London in August 2011. At Heathrow Airport they announce "Please dont leave your luggage unattended" over and over again. I just want to say, that I never travel without plastic wrapping my luggage, for the simple reason that I dont want drugs planted on me. BUT, we waited at the carousel and had found 2 of our bags, but we waited and waited and the 3rd never arrived. After waiting more than an hour, I crossed the floor and asked 2 airport attendants where it could be. They pointed to a whole lot of baggage on the far side of the carousel. Mine was among them, intact. BUT the people just take them off the belt and dont bother to put them back on the carousel. How utterly selfish and unthoughtful. How easily someone can tamper with luggage, while you wait and wait. At Heathrow Airport the Plastic wrapping machine was broken, so I had made my son take me across the airport to the other side where they wrapped it for me. i would rather have left my bags behind than travel unwrapped. No chance I go unwrapped. I am not going to jail for anyone.

This is extremely sad by all accounts. This young woman is ruined at the prime of her life. We need to ask ourselves what the driving force is for people to take such risks when they are aware of the dangers involved. Who is the driving force behind these young women.Something's got to give here....I feel sorry for this girl's motherfatherfamily

this is a lesson to all young girls who are GOLD DIGGERS life is not about money but its the ather way round. i wonder what is gonna happen to her as i heard from the news that she was to be assassinated yesterday the 121211. anyone with information to search. we need not to compare RSA with China. if they kill drug trafficers its fine. but the example must be set. we dont need corrupt SA citizens. there are lot of opportunities for South African here at home, especially young females. Let not the president go and negotiate for a selfish, self centered, gold digger no no!!

She is wrong for carring drugs but does not warrant the Death Penalty. Jacob Zuma should pass rule that the Chinese Freaks who kill our innocent Rhinos should be hung they are only defenceless animals that are killed for no reason what so ever.
