A Nongoma school official has been arrested after 23 boys from a school in the area laid rape charges against him.
Police said on Tuesday that the 24-year-old official, who cannot be named until he pleads to the charges, was arrested at the school earlier this week.
He is accused of molesting boys aged 11 to 14.
A police source said the crimes were uncovered after a senior school official heard boys talking about the matter among themselves. He persuaded them to tell the authorities.
Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said the man would appear in the Nongoma Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
He said the affected boys had been sent to a district surgeon for check-ups. – The Mercury
