Nelspruit - Mpumalanga police continued their search on Tuesday for a baby stolen from Rob Ferreira Hospital in Mbombela last month.

The baby went missing several hours after it was born to a 16-year-old girl on August 30, said Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.

Five people were arrested for the incident last week.

“Ananias Ndzimba, 27, Julius Sithole, 25, Phineas Sono, 35, Aaron Moyo Nyoni, 20, and Portia Ncube, 31, were arrested on Friday and Saturday respectively in their hideouts,” said Mohlala.

“Ndzimba and Sithole, both Mozambican citizens, were arrested at Nelspruit CBD on Friday, while Sono, Nyoni and Ncube were arrested on Saturday at Mataffin outside Nelspruit.”

The suspects appeared in court on Monday and their case was postponed to September 16.

They face charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and kidnapping.
