Pretoria - The community of Mamelodi, local reverends, bishops and ANC ward 23 members have thrown their support behind the family of missing 9-year-old Zinhle Ndala in a candle prayer session.

Word of the missing girl went viral on Facebook after her family reported her missing on January 4 while she had been out playing with friends near her home in Mamelodi S&S.

Her family said when Zinhle did not come home to watch her favourite soapies as usual they went looking for her but could not find her.

Her mother, Thokozile Ndala, said when she asked Zinhle’s friends where she had disappeared to none of them could recall when they had last seen her.

“My father said he sent Zinhle and her brother home at around 4pm. Her brother came in to grab something to eat and left Zinhle outside to continue playing,” she said.

The family have handed out pamphlets at taxi ranks, malls and even hung posters around Mamelodi, but this has not helped so far.

Despite efforts by the family and the police search team to find Zinhle, no new information has come to light. Thokozile also pleaded with people not to speculate that something awful had happened to her daughter but to help them find her instead. This after it was posted on Facebook that Zinhle had been found raped and murdered.

A candle prayer meeting held on Sunday for the safe return of Zinhle was attended by the community, church members and representatives of the ANC outside Ndala’s home.

Aunt Mavis Ndala said they had no new information on Zinhle.

The family appealed to anyone with information on Zinhle to contact them or the local police.

Ndala can be contacted on 071 816 9819; Crime Stop on 0860 010 111 or police on 012 805 7080.
