Johannesburg - “He took off my tights but at least he didn’t rape me.”
So said Shadi Khune, who has been charged with attempted murder after she bit off a piece of Msa Mpepanduku’s penis.
“I went to the tavern and met with Msa, who is my friend, and we sat and drank for a while. Then he said he has two more beers at his place and invited me to share them,” said the 40-year-old.
The two were drinking at a tavern in Meadowlands Zone 4, Soweto, when Mpepanduku allegedly invited her to his shack. “When we got there, he locked the door and tried to rape me,” she said.
When she asked why he was locking the door, he said “Kudala ngikuhalela (I’ve lusted after you for a very long time)”, and then began throttling her.
“He began undressing himself and that’s when I bit his penis. Then I took my phone and rushed home,” said the unemployed mother-of-two.
“I don’t even know where I bit him, I just ran out without looking.”
Khune lives with her brother and children, and when she told her brother what had happened, he suggested she go to the police.
“The police gave me a letter and told me to go to the hospital, but I couldn’t because I had to look after my child,” she said.
“When I went to the police station on Monday, I found him there laying a charge against me. He pointed at me and the police arrested me.”
She said she was told by neighbours that early on Monday, he was looking for her and said he wanted to apologise.
Mpepanduku insisted her story was a lie. The 37-year-old said he and Khune had had consensual sex.
“She found me drinking at Makhosonke’s tavern around 4. Soon after, I proposed we go to my place. I said that since we’re both drunk, we should continue this at my place,” he said, speaking softly.
“When we got there, she said ‘Can I please kiss your penis?’, and then she bit it.”
The father-of-three said he thought he would die because of the profuse bleeding. “I washed and bandaged myself and then I got a car to take me to the hospital. They stitched me and sent me home,” he said, sitting outside his shack.
“The boys on my street told me that after she bit me, she went to a party and was bragging about how she bit my penis.”
The limping Mpepanduku said his stitches would be removed in a week’s time, and he had been given painkillers and an ointment to manage his injury.
“She only bit some meat off the flesh at the bottom of my penis. At least I can still have more children,” he revealed.
He said he never went to Khune’s house and doesn’t even know where she lives.
Khune hasn’t yet opened a case against Mpepanduku, but she appeared in the Orlando Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and was charged with attempted murder.
She was granted bail of R1 000, but failed to raise the money, so she was remanded.
She was due to appear again on Wednesday.
