IOL boy shot westbury SUPPLIED Luke Tibbets, 3, died after he was wounded in a shooting in Westbury.

Johannesburg - A three-year-old Westbury boy remained in a critical condition on Tuesday evening after being caught in the crossfire of a shooting.

“His condition has not changed, he is still critical and on life support,” Warrant Officer Gordon Billing said.

The boy, Luke Tibbetts, sustained critical injuries when he was shot along with a 26-year-old man on Saturday evening. The two were travelling in the area in separate vehicles when they were hit by stray bullets.

They were taken to nearby hospitals.

The man was shot in his right arm and was treated and discharged.

Lindray Khakhu, 24, was arrested for the shooting.

On Tuesday, he appeared in the Newlands Magistrate's Court, also known as the Sophiatown Court, to face two counts of attempted murder.

The court heard that these were not the only charges Khakhu faced.

He faced three other charges of attempted murder for a separate incident.

The cases were pending before the High Court, prosecutor Vincent Mochabela told the court.

The case was postponed to August 12 and Khakhu would be kept in custody at the Johannesburg Central Prison.
