Suspect killed in Cape Town shoot-out

Cape Town – One suspect was killed, one wounded and four more arrested during a shoot-out with police in Cape Town on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said: “Today at approximately 11:45, a shoot-out occurred on the corners of Nooiensfontein and Stellenbosch Arterial Roads between SAPS members and suspects who were travelling in a reported hijacked Toyota Corolla. Three suspects were in the hijacked vehicle and another three in another vehicle .

“In this shooting incident one of the suspects was fatally wounded, one injured and taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and the other four arrested. Two firearms ,the hijacked vehicle and the other vehicle were seized. No SAPS members were injured or SAPS vehicle damaged in incident.”

Van Wyk said the four arrested suspects, aged between 22 and 25 years, were detained on charges of possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms, illegal ammunition and possession of a stolen vehicle

They were due to appear in the Kuilsrivier Magistrate’s Court soon.
