Suspect shot during robbery in Temba

A man was shot and injured when a business was robbed on Friday in Temba, Hammanskraal.

It was alleged that at about 2.30am, four suspects entered the business premises and robbed it of an undisclosed amount of money.

A spokeswoman for Temba SAPS, Captain Farah Lesabane, said the suspects shot the shopkeeper who was found lying inside the shop. Lesabane said security guards then fired shots at the suspects.

One suspect was shot and injured and is under police guard in hospital, while another was shot dead.

Two others escaped.

Police recovered a firearm and a toy gun from the scene.

Another suspect was later arrested and will be charged with murder, business robbery and attempted murder when he appears in the Temba Magistrate’s Court.

In another incident on Thursday two ATMs were bombed at a complex in Temba at about 8pm.

Eight suspects entered the complex and ordered the security guards together with other people who were at the complex to lie down.

One of the suspects held the victims at gunpoint while the others bombed two Standard Bank ATMs.

An undisclosed amount of money was stolen.
