White River - Three suspected rhino poachers were arrested in the Kruger National Park at the weekend, SANParks said on Monday.
One person was arrested on Saturday and another two were apprehended on Sunday, said spokesman Reynold Thakhuli in a statement.
Thakuli said during Saturday's incident, a second person had escaped.
A hunting rifle, ammunition and poaching equipment was recovered.
On Sunday, rangers tried to apprehend a group of five. Two of them were arrested, but the remaining three got away.
Thakuli said a search had begun for them.
Last week, two SANPark employees were arrested in connection with rhino poaching.
They appeared in the White River Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, and their case was postponed to April 16.
Thakhuli said proactive actions were working.
“This is a clear indication that resilience and patience pays off and we are grateful that no lives were lost,” he said.
