Rustenburg - A suspected robber was found dead and four other men were arrested for attempted business robbery and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in Wolmaransstad, North West police said on Thursday.
"It is alleged that the suspects entered a business premises at Wolmaransstad where a 28-year-old victim was sleeping. The victim was running to his neighbour for help when he heard gunshots," said spokesperson Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko.
She said the incident was reported to the police who responded immediately and upon arrival at the scene, they found one of the men dead, it was not yet known who shot him.
"A thorough investigation with assistance of Cluster Trio Task Team led to the arrest of the deceased brother and his three accomplices. According to information available at this stage, one of the suspects was found in possession two firearms and ammunition."
The incident occurred on Wednesday night. She said further probe linked the men to a house robbery case committed at Makwassie in May.
The men aged between 25 and 38 were expected to appear in the Wolmaranstard Magistrate's Court on Friday.
