Pimville, Soweto - A minibus taxi driver was arrested in Pimville, Soweto on Wednesday, for intimidation and resisting arrest, the Johannesburg metro police said.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the taxi driver cut through the shoulder of the road to avoid stopping at a red traffic light.

“He refused to co-operate with the officers and was pulled from his vehicle to the ground to be handcuffed,” he said.

Minnaar said the driver threatened officers and was charged with intimidation, resisting arrest and failing to stop for an officer in unform.

He was expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Thursday. - Sapa
