Johannesburg - Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of former boxer Corrie Sanders, police have said.

In a statement, North West police confirmed on Thursday that the suspects - one aged 19 and the others aged 20 - were arrested after police received information which led them to an address in Oukasie, an informal settlement near Brits.

At this address, two suspects were arrested. The police confiscated a cellphone, vehicle key, purse and cash that were allegedly taken during the robbery on Saturday night in which Sanders was shot dead.

Police then went to a second address and a third suspect was arrested.

A handbag also belonging to a victim of the robbery was recovered.

All three suspects are Zimbabwean citizens.

The suspects are set to appear in the Brits Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of murder and armed robbery. - IOL
