Johannesburg - Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of the chairman of the Dobsonville Roodepoort Leratong Johannesburg Taxi Association (Dorljota), police said on Tuesday.

“The three men aged 28, 40 and 50 were arrested late on Tuesday at Dube Hostel in connection with the murder of Mr 1/8Vusi 3/8 Shabangu,” spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele said.

Shabangu was shot and killed on February 17. Two men approached his white BMW X5 on foot as he was exiting a driveway in Zondi, Soweto and started shooting at close range.

The three were charged with murder and would appear at the Protea Magistrate's Court soon, said Makhubele.
