Pretoria - Thuli Madonsela’s lawyers have told the Pretoria High Court that she will not release the report on state capture on Friday.

The EFF, DA, Cope and UDM lodged an application on Friday to oppose Co-operative Governance Minister Des van Rooyen’s urgent court interdict to stop the Public Protector from releasing the report.

The lawyers for the opposition parties in Parliament were earlier asked by the judge to discuss the idea of a preservation order of the report with Van Rooyen’s lawyers.

The opposition parties wanted the report to be sealed and not be altered until the full application by President Jacob Zuma is heard on Tuesday.

Zuma, who has strong ties to the wealthy Gupta family, on Thursday applied for an interdict to halt the release of the much anticipated report on the alleged capturing of the State and its entities.

Zuma wanted to prevent Madonsela not to release the report as he still wanted to deal with a number of issues including interrogating witnesses and getting the other evidence.
