Two ATMs bombed in RustenburgComment on this story
North West Province -
A manhunt has been launched for five people who bombed two ATMs in Helen Joseph's Drive, Rustenburg, early on Friday morning, North West police said.
“It is alleged that the thugs were wearing balaclavas when they approached two (security guards), confronted them and took their firearms,” Captain Amanda Funani said.
They then detonated explosives which blew up a First National Bank ATM and an Absa ATM.
As the men tried to flee, police arrived and a shoot-out ensued.
Funani said no police officers were wounded, and it was not known if the suspects sustained injuries.
The men fled the scene in a black Audi A4 with an undisclosed amount of cash. - Sapa
