Woman hacked to death with panga in home

Port Elizabeth - Eastern Cape police on Thursday arrested a 30-year-old man after a woman was stabbed and hacked to death at her home in Kwaaiman near Mqanduli.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela, said it was alleged that a 33-year-old woman was hacked to death by two panga wielding men.

Fatyela said the men arrived while the woman was asleep together with her 65-year-old grandmother and six siblings aged between two and 12.

The rondavel in which they were sleeping was also set alight. Family members in the home sustained no injuries. 

Police are investigating a case of murder.
