Eastern Cape - A 27-year-old woman was shot dead on Tuesday morning, allegedly by her boyfriend who then turned the firearm on himself in Baziya village, Mthatha, Eastern Cape police said.
The 35-year-old man went to the woman's home around 6am. An argument broke out and he shot her in the upper body, killing her, Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said.
The man, who shot himself in the head, was in a critical condition and under police guard in the Nelson Mandela Academic hospital.
A 9mm pistol service pistol with the serial number filed off was found at the scene.
Police would investigate how the man got hold of the firearm.
He would appear in court on charges of murder and possession of an illegal firearm once he recovered. - Sapa
