A Limpopo ANC ward councillor and 18 other people appeared in the Seshego Magistrate's Court on Monday in connection with the murder of a Zimbabwean man, police said.

The matter was postponed to December 1 for further investigation, Warrant Officer Mothemane Malefo said.

The accused faced charges of incitement, public violence, malicious damage to property, arson, and murder.

Councillor Tebogo Mojapelo, 29, and 11 others were released on bail granted at a previous hearing.

Godfrey Sibanda was stoned to death by an angry crowd during an attack on foreigners in Seshego, near Polokwane, in June.

The mob also torched RDP houses occupied by Zimbabweans. – Sapa
