Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma has gone to the High Court in Pretoria to block Public Protector Thuli Madonsela from releasing her report into state capture on Friday.

Zuma’s urgent court interdict on Thursday comes less then 24 hours before Madonsela makes public her findings against the president and the Guptas.

The Guptas had also this week threatened to go court against the report, but decided to wait until Madonsela released her findings.

But the Guptas had warned to take the report on review as they expected Madonsela to make adverse findings against Zuma and the family.

Zuma’s urgent court interdict is one last attempt to block the report after his attempts failed this week.

Early this week Madonsela refused to give Zuma the evidence and the list of witnesses until he had answered all the questions.

She said Zuma had until early this year to answer questions on state capture, but had delayed.

She said the president needed to answer all the questions she sent to him.
