Johannesburg - A South African Olympic swimmer and his father were arrested for speeding on the N1 to Pretoria on Sunday, Gauteng traffic police said.
Spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo said the 55-year-old father was caught shortly before 7am driving at 234km/h in a Porsche GT3.
“His 20-year-old son, who is an Olympic swimmer for South Africa, also driving the same make of Porsche, was caught behind him travelling at 188km/h.”
Nxumalo said the two were arrested for reckless or negligent driving, with an alternative charge of exceeding the general speed limit of 120km/h. They were released on bail and were expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
