South Africa has had its share of good and bad moments this year, Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe said on Friday.

In his Christmas message, Motlanthe mentioned the 2010 Fifa World Cup as one of the best moments for South Africa, SABC radio news reported.

“Like any other year, the year 2010 had its good and bad moments. Together we hosted the 2010 Fifa World Cup, flew the South African flag and blew the vuvuzelas at the top of our lungs. Moments like this signify the greatness we can achieve as a nation.

“Let us also console those who have unfortunately lost family members and friends through natural and unnatural causes during the festive season,” he said. -
