Johannesburg - An acting head of the Gauteng economic development department has been appointed in the wake of the suspension of its current head, the department said on Monday.
“Albert Chanee resumes his duties as head of department in an acting capacity until further notice,” it said in a statement.
“The department... reaffirms its commitment to work tirelessly to deliver on its mandate as a champion of inclusive economic growth and job creation in Gauteng province.”
Premier Nomvula Mokonyane announced Khulu Radebe's suspension as head of department on Thursday.
“Radebe is suspended for non-performance and lack of accountability on some of the key youth development programmes,” her office said in a statement.
Mokonyane said several youth employment projects and entrepreneur development programmes had collapsed under Radebe's leadership. - Sapa
