Kosmos, North West -
The ANC in the North West had still not nominated their preferred candidates for the party's leadership on Saturday afternoon.
Provincial spokesman Kenny Morolong said the provincial executive committee was meeting to go through the verification report.
Delegates had to be verified before they could participate in the conference.
This was done by officials from the African National Congress headquarters, Luthuli House.
A small group of delegates, many dressed in T-shirts bearing the face of President Jacob Zuma, quietly stood around waiting for the provincial general council (PGC) to start.
The PGC has been delayed since Friday morning.
ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe confirmed that the North West would nominate on Saturday afternoon.
The PGC got to a rocky start with another group, lead by provincial secretary Kabelo Mataboge, holding a parallel conference in Mafikeng.
Mataboge has been associated with the group calling for Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe to take the top job.
Provincial chairman Supra Mahumapelo has reportedly been the chief campaigner for President Jacob Zuma's second term bid at Mangaung.
Mahumapelo said the NEC had endorsed the Kosmos hall conference in Hartbeespoort Dam as the official provincial conference.
