Debate around second transition ‘robust’Comment on this story
Debate around the second transition paper at the ANC policy conference was robust, the party said on Thursday.
“The paper introduces a new concept, it looks into the next two decades. There was consensus of where we want to go,” said Febe Potgieter, one of the people who drafted the document.
She said going forward, the paper suggested a radical decisive shift to dismantle the structural legacy of apartheid.
“The new phase characterises radical change in pace.”
She said it was in the interest of the society to fight unemployment.
The negotiated settlement reached before 1994 would be meaningless if people were not able to participate in the economy, Potgieter said. - Sapa
