Johannesburg - The ANC in Gauteng will hold its provincial general council in Pretoria on Thursday, the party said.
“The PGC has been reconvened to fill the vacancy for the position of the deputy provincial secretary in line with the NEC decision of September 2013,” spokesman Dumisa Ntuli said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The ANC Gauteng has complied with all requirements as outlined in the guidelines.”
The province held a PGC in July, but this was nullified by the African National Congress's national executive committee (NEC).
The NEC found the PGC was unconstitutional because branch general meetings were allegedly not convened.
The July PGC elected former West Rand regional secretary Boyce Maneli as provincial deputy secretary, however, his position fell away when the NEC nullified the meeting.
The position became vacant after former Gauteng housing MEC Humphrey Memezi, who was also provincial deputy secretary, was elected to the ANC's NEC at the Mangaung conference in December 2012.
