Johannesburg - The government should look into its own inefficiencies instead of taking a haphazard, unfocused approach to solving problems in education, Fedusa said on Friday.
“It seems as if government is again taking a shotgun approach to something which needs a more sophisticated solution,” Federation of Unions of SA general secretary Dennis George said in a statement.
“Maybe it should rather look at its own inefficiencies before embarking on ill-advised steps like these.”
George was responding to the African National Congress's proposal to declare education an essential service, which would make it illegal for teachers to strike.
Fedusa was against the proposal.
“We would be more than willing to meet with the ANC education committee to look at better ways of addressing this issue.” - Sapa
