Mandela cortege arrives in Qunu

An army helicopter observes the funeral cortege carrying the coffin of former South African President Nelson Mandela as it drives through Mandela's homeland just outside the village of Qunu December 14, 2013. South Africa's late President Nelson Mandela will be buried at his home in the village of Qunu on Sunday, December 15.

Qunu - The military procession bearing former president Nelson Mandela's body arrived at his childhood village of Qunu, in the Eastern Cape, around 4pm on Saturday.

Residents awaiting the cortege's arrival waved flags and raised fists as it drove past.

Members of the Mandela family have also arrived in Qunu.
