The National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) has called for a change of leadership within the ruling party, according to a report on Saturday.

Numsa deputy secretary general Karl Cloete told journalists the current national executive committee (NEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) should be replaced post-2012.

“They have not been able to drive the implementation of the Polokwane resolutions and therefore we are very clear that we will, in our branches of the ANC, make sure that this current ANC NEC does not return,” Cloete said, according to SABC radio news.

“We are not making any apologies. We are very clear that the ANC NEC must change because the ANC NEC is the collective body that is entrusted with the policies of the African National Congress,” said Cloete.
