Cape Town - Struggle stalwart Ben Turok on Monday added to his earlier condemnation of African National Congress (ANC) comrade Jacob Zuma, saying it was time the president left office and made his way back to Nkandla.

“Go home to Nkandla and stay there,” said Turok during an interview with news channel eNCA.

Turok’s interview followed a Monday morning interview with radio station 702 where he said the president should, “consider his position”.

“Jacob Zuma has made the worst possible decision of his entire career as a president by axing Nhlanhla Nene,” Turok told 702’s John Robbie.

He added that Nene was a “decent man” who worked hard and diligently.

Wrapping up his eNCA interview, Turok said that the ANC, of which he was still a card-holding member, had for a long time been deteriorating. Equally lengthy was the number of poor decisions made by the president, said Turok.

“His appointments have often been biased and ill-judged,” he said.

However, Turok said he believed that the ANC remained - albeit to a lesser extent than during and soon after the liberation struggle - the “voice of the masses of the people”.

To save its legacy as such, Turok called on his ANC comrades and the veterans to speak out against poor leadership.

Furthermore, Turok condemned business leaders who made millions, “enjoying the fruits of our country” while remaining silent about problems facing the nation.

“I don’t know what is wrong with them, I really don’t,” he said.
