Durban - President Jacob Zuma received a rapturous welcome as he arrived at the African National Congress’s KwaZulu-Natal provincial headquarters in Durban to unveil a municipal election countdown clock on Saturday.

Zuma appeared upbeat and danced on stage with performers to the appreciation of the crowd, many of whom waited more than two hours for his arrival.

A sea ANC supporters in yellow T-shirts danced and sang with the performers who preceded Zuma’s arrival.

Later he unveiled the party’s election countdown clock leading up to the August 3 local government polls.

The event was marked by a heavy police presence, including a police helicopter circling overhead.
