Police watchdog, the Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD), is investigating police brutality after cellphone video footage came to light this week showing a policeman kicking and assaulting a man outside a Polokwane tavern before arresting him.

The clip was posted on the 2oceansVibe website on Tuesday. The 2oceansVibe website said a bystander filmed the assault on a 19-year-old man outside a Vaalwater tavern on November 24.

He was loaded into the police van and later taken to hospital.
