A dog was seen carrying a baby's head in Durban's Kwa-Dabeka area, police said on Thursday.
A group of children noticed the dog on Wednesday afternoon, said Superintendent Vincent Mdunge. Police had not yet found the newborn baby's body.
"Only the head was found... and we don't know whether the child was a victim of an illegal abortion or whether he was stillborn".
